What to expect

The Palm Springs Aerial Tramway travels approximately 2.5 miles through Chino Canyon, climbing from the Valley Station at 2,643 feet to the Mountain Station at 8,516 feet. The ride takes about 10 minutes each way. The rotating tram cars slowly turn during the journey, providing changing views of the Coachella Valley and surrounding mountains. Hiking

The Mountain Station is a gateway to the Mount San Jacinto mountain environment. Shorter nature walks are available for visitors who simply want to explore the area, while experienced hikers can access longer trails into the wilderness.

Because the elevation is considerably higher than Palm Springs, temperatures at the top can be dramatically cooler. Bring water, comfortable walking shoes, and a light jacket, even when it is very hot in Palm Springs.

Current summer hours — 2026

The summer schedule runs through September 7, 2026:

• Monday–Friday: First tram up at 10:00 a.m.

• Saturday, Sunday & holidays: First tram up at 8:00 a.m.

• Sunday–Thursday: Last tram up at 8:00 p.m.; last tram down at 9:30 p.m.

The tramway is scheduled for its annual maintenance closure from September 8 through October 4, 2026, with reopening planned for October 5. (Palm Springs Aerial Tramway)

Tickets

The current official ticket page lists regular admission at:

• Adults: $36.95

• Children ages 3–10: $20.95

• Seniors 65+: $33.95

Accessibility
